Second Penang Bridge
Opened in 2014, the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge is more commonly called the Second Penang Bridge or just the Second Bridge. It is a 24-kilometer bridge linking Penang Island to Penang Mainland at Batu Kawan. The overall length of the bridge is 24 km (15 miles) and length over water is 16.9 km (10.5 miles).
Toll starts at Batu Kawan Interchange, (interchange with North-South Expressway Northern Route E1). The Batu Kawan-NSE Interchange is Exit 157 from the North-South Expressway. It is called Exit 2800 if you enter it from the Second Penang Bridge. From Penang island, it is toll-free. How to use the Second Penang Bridge:
Motorists exiting the North-South Expressway enters the Integrated Toll Plaza. It has two sides, Plaza A on the right and Plaza B on the left. Either one is possible, depending on where you want to go or if there is a traffic jam at one, use the other.
Motorist can use one of the two entrances/exits:
1) Plaza A (Exit 2802) : The Penang Second Bridge Integrated Toll Plaza (Simpangan Bau Maung). Motorist pays one combined toll for both the use of the expressway and bridge at on toll gate.
2) Plaza B (Exit 2801) : The Penang Second Bridge Toll Plaza or Bandar Cassia-JKSB Toll Plaza (Simpangan Bandar Cassia) - Motorists trough Plaza B passes two toll gates, paying separate tolls for use of the expressway and then the bridge.
