Air Itam

The Kek Lok Si Temple has been rated as the most visited tourist spot in Penang. Located in a busy sub-urban centre, the staircase leading to the temple is lined with interesting stalls selling souvenirs and local products. Surrounding this temple complex is a popular wet market, shops and roadside stalls. Visitors can also drive up the higher level temples.

  The market area is often crowded with locals and tourists. The famous for the Air Itam laksa is located the front of the market. You can also get a variety of good local street food and an array of Penang's own nutmeg products. This is an interesting place to walk around to shop for local products.

          The Air Itam area has also a high population density with many residential areas of flats and housing estates.
